About: HRH Sultan of Perak


Sultan Dr Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah (born 27 November 1956 in Penang, Malaysia) is the Raja Muda of Perak. He is the eldest son of the late Sultan of Perak,Sultan Azlan Muhibbudin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yusuff Izzudin Shah Ghafarullahu-lahu and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Bainun Binti Mohd. Ali.

Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has an academic and intellectual background. Sultan Nazrin had his early education at the Sekolah Rendah Jalan Kuantan, from1963 to 1967 following which he studied at St. John Institurion from 1968 to 1970. He pursue studies at Leys School Cambridge until 1973. 

He is the alumnus of top universities in the world, Oxford and Harvard. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Worcester College, OxfordHe also holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of government, Harvard; and Ph.D in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University

He was proclaimed the Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Perak on 15 April 1984, taking over from his father, Sultan Azlan Shah, who just two weeks earlier became the Sultan of Perak.


He was appointed Regent of Perak when his father became the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 1989 to 1994.

Sultan Nazrin married Zara Salim Davidson at Istana Iskandariah, Bukit Chandan, on 17 May 2007. This was announced by the Comptroller of the Perak royal household, Raja Datuk Seri Mansur Raja Razman.
Sultan Nazrin and Zara have known each other for eight years.
A day after the solemnisation of their vows, there was a special proclamation ceremony to bestow Zara with the official title of Raja Puan Besar of Perak. Sultan Azlan Shah had consented to the proclamation of Sultan Nazrin’s bride Zara Salim Davidson as the Raja Puan Besar of Perak and the conferment of the Darjah Kerabat on her.
Sultan Azlan Shah conferred Darjah Kerabat on Tuanku Zara Salim in 2007.

The royal wedding reception took place on 19 May 2007.



The first child of the couple, Raja Azlan Muzaffar Shah, was born on 14 March 2008. Their first daughter, Raja Nazira Safya was born on 2nd August 2011.

Upon the demise of the 34th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah on 28th May 2014, Sultan Nazrin Shah was proclaimed as the 35th Sultan of Perak on 29th May 2014.

About: Almarhum Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak

Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yusuff Izzuddin Shah Ghafarullahu-Lah was born on 19 April 1928 was the 34th Sultan of Perak. He was the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia from 26 April 1989 to 25 April 1994. 


A lawyer by profession, he served as a judge, and the Lord President of the Federal court before becoming the Sultan of Perak.
By a strange twist of fate, Raja Azlan Shah was installed Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Perak by his uncle, Sultan Idris Al-Mutawakkil Alallahi Shah II on 1 July 1983. The long reign of that Sultan had taken its toll on Raja Azlan Shah's elder brothers. In that year, his only surviving elder brother, Raja Baharom Shah, refused the office of Crown Prince and Raja Azlan Shah was suddenly heir to the throne.
Within six months, Sultan Idris died and Azlan Shah succeeded to the throne of Perak on 3 February 1984.

In April 1989, Sultan Azlan Shah became the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. He served the full five year term and returned as Sultan of Perak in 1994.

Sultan Azlan Shah married a commoner from Penang, former teacher Bainun binti Mohamad Ali. 

The royal couple have five children, two princes and three princesses. The eldest is Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, who is the 35th Sultan of Perak. The others are Raja Dato' Seri Azureen, Raja  Dato' Seri Ashman Shah, Raja  Eleena and Raja Yong Sofia

Sultan Azlan Shah passed away on 28th May 2014 at the age of 86. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah who was the Raja Muda of Perak.

Terengganu Sultanate : Part III

The Installation of Sultan of Terengganu

There are four main ceremonies on a single day consist of:

Royal Cleansing Ceremony (Istiadat Siram Tabal)
In the morning, the Sultan and his consort undergo Royal Cleansing Ceremony at a beautifully decorated royal dais called Panca Persada. The royal couple will be doused with several types of ceremonial water including the limau langir, gold water, silver water and floral water. A 21-gun salute signifies that the ceremony has been completed and the royal couple will leave the royal dais.


Coronation and inauguration ceremonies 
The entrance of the royal couple at the Throne room of the palace is accompanied by the Iskandar Shah tune (Nobat). The senior court official, Tengku Sri Raja seeks permissions in order to commence the coronation. Menteri Besar will read the proclamation of installation of the Sultan. Tengku Sri Raja will place the crown on the Sultan and the cheers of Daulat Tuanku (Hail the King) rings out three times in the Throne Room.

The ceremony is followed by the coronation of the official consort of the Sultan. A 21-gun salute and beating of the nobat to the tune Ibrahim Khalil to mark the start of the new Ruler's reign.The Sultan then makes his brief speech.

The event is followed by speeches presented by Tengku Sri Bendahara Raja and Menteri Besar on behalf of the royal family and the citizens of the State respectively to congratulate the new Ruler.

Raja Muda of Selangor 23rd Birthday

Today, 12th December 2013 is the 23rd Birthday of the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj. Tengku Amir was born on 12th December 1990 at Pacific Presbyterian Hospital, San Francisco, California. He is the son of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and his American-born mother, Cik Puan Nur Lisa Idris Abdullah.
As the first son of the Sultan of Selangor, he was proclaimed as the Raja Muda of Selangor on 3rd May 2002 and it was gazetted on 9th May 2002.

He received his early education at Alice Smith School, Kuala Lumpur. He attended Wellington College in England from 2004 and graduated in 2009.He pursued his tertiary education at University of Leeds in Ecology and Environmental Biology.
